From The Desk of Dean - Dr. Renuka Gahine

Dear Students,

I consider it an honour to have been appointed as the Dean of the Government Medical College, Mahasamund. I aim to excel the Institute in academic activities, research works and patient care services and all this will be attained with the support of our faculty, administrative, finance officers, nursing officers, my secretariat, engineering and other staff, and, most importantly the resident doctors and students. I will do my best to establish transparency in the process of recruitment, procurement and, other services.

My role as the Dean of this institute will be to show the way and to facilitate and enable each and every faculty member, staff and student to reach their maximum potential. The institution will try to provide the best quality education to produce the best graduate medical doctors who are prepared to render service with sincerity, empathy, professionalism and social responsibility. Nursing and other paramedical services would provide all aspects of patient care with the aim of not just treating patients but also to use every opportunity to educate patients regarding personal hygiene and nutrition.

I will try to open hospital services that are affordable and cost effective, ensuring that all patient safety measures are in place in a clean environment. Community outreach programmes to address health issues of nearby rural areas will be given priority with a compassion for the sick and commitment to serve the under served. I will try to ensure that all recruitments and all approved projects are completed according to timelines. Adequate IT infrastructure such as wi-fi connectivity and the establishment of e-governance in administration, academics and the hospital services will be ensured.

GMC Mahasamund will also play a role in policy formulation, providing information, technical support and advice to healthcare policy makers at all levels. Most importantly, the health care will be provided through Sincerity, Punctuality, Discipline and dedication.
